Eleven Seventy-Eight Designs started in 1978 when Jean Luc Comperat and Minouche Waring merged their experiences into designing glass and stained glass decorative objects. stained glass jewelry box, picture frames, clocks, lamps, plates and bowls, etc... Jean Luc graduated in 1977 as an architect from L'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux Arts de Paris, France, and Minouche had been working for advertising agencies designing sets for print and TV commercials. Their "non-formal" craft training and their free spirit allowed them to define their own stained glass style. New ways to use glass are constantly under development in their studio. The work of 1178designs has been featured in New York Magazine, New York Times, Daily News, Casa Vogue, Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, ABC news, Scottish TV and many other publications In 1997 they received an award for "excellence in design" from Metropolitan Home Magazine.
